Vitamin D3 is synthesized in the skin when we have sun (UV) exposure. However, it’s thought there is a widespread deficiency in the Northern Europe due to the low levels on sunshine. Vitamin D is essential for the absorption of calcium and bone growth. A deficiency has been linked to increased risk of common cancers, autoimmune diseases, hypertension, infectious diseases, compromised immunity and depression.
